Privacy, consent and data handling
Check-ins only work if people trust them. These are the rules Sunbrief is built around.
Consent first
- Members receive check-ins only after replying JOIN or YES to an invitation.
- STOP opts a member out immediately.
- Every consent change is logged with a timestamp.
- Managers cannot restart a member who opted out; only the member can.
What we store
- Phone numbers in international E.164 format.
- Text answers and transcripts of voice notes.
- Message logs with category, country and estimated cost.
What we do not keep or do
- Audio files are deleted right after transcription.
- We never read WhatsApp groups.
- The bot does not act as a general-purpose chatbot.
WhatsApp messaging rules
Free-form messages are only sent within 24 hours of a member's last message. Outside that window, Sunbrief uses approved message templates.
